Summer Camps Start July 5

Monday, July 5th is the start of a lengthy summer camp season for Seaside Volleyball Club. For 7 weeks in July and August, SVC are running 25 volleyball camps. The camps will cater to both boys and girls, entering grades 4 to 12 in September, appeal to novice, intermediate and advanced athletes.

"As of today, we have over 270 kids registered and there are still some spaces available" says club president Shane Donen. "It's been an unusual registration with the pandemic. Many families have held off on putting their kids into summer camps, some hesitant with the unknown health circumstances and others opting for family vacations after the long wait to go somewhere. However, with the recent and rapid change to the health restrictions the registrations have picked up significantly."

All of our summer camps are held at Seaside's practice facility, the Wave. Seaside has recently upgraded to four ceiling fans in the facility (along with the two mesh-backed open bay doors) to help keep the gym cooler during the hot summer months.

August camps will feature Rob Gowe, head coach at Capilano University and current Seaside lead girls coach. Other coaches include Brynn Pasin (UBC Varsity & SVC club coach), Kayla Oxland (UBC Varsity), Anna Shocohian and Connor Pundick (SVC club coaches). "These coaches will definitely help kids with their skill development, facilitate game play and fun during the camps. We've been running these camps for over 15 years, the reputation precedes itself" says Shane.
