Seaside Breaks Record at 2018 Nationals

Seaside Volleyball Club won a record 8 medals out of a possible 11 this past week in Edmonton where the National Volleyball Championships were taking place. "So many great stories" said club president Shane Donen. "In 2014, the club won 7 medals but this year we topped it with eight". The highlight of the event was the 18U Surf Boys team who finished with the silver medal in Division 1, Tier 1, losing to Pakmen from Toronto. Malachi McMullin and Michael Dowhaniuk were named tournament all-stars. Their finish capped a magical season for them after winning the BC provincial championships.

Canadian Nationals Boys 14U Div1 Tier3 Gold

Other medal winners for the boys side included gold for our 14U Surf team, who finished 1st in Div 1, tier 3 and silver medals for our 16U Six Pack team who finished 2nd in Div 1, tier 2.

Medal Bite

On the girls side 17U Surf defeated BC Provincial Champions Thunder Blue in a close 3 setter, 16-14 in the 3rd to win the gold in Div 1, tier 2. The 16U Surf team lost a 16-14 3rd setter to Leaside from Ontario to win silver in Div 2, Tier 2. Other medal winners included 18U surf, bronze in Div 2, Tier 2, 15U Surf, silver in Div 4, Tier 2 and 14U Surf winning silver, Div 3, Tier 2.

An overall excellent finish to the season with 17 medals at provincials and nationals in total. Congrats to all of the Seaside teams!
