Shane Donen is the co-founder and president of Seaside Volleyball Club. He is a 30+ year veteran coach who has been coaching with Seaside for 22 years. Shane has coached numerous teams in both boys and girls, of all ages, club, high school and Team BC Zones with numerous championship medals in all disciplines. In 2009, he coached the Senior Women’s Jewish Olympic Team that won bronze for Canada at the Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Shane has been involved behind the scenes in the broader volleyball community for many years as a builder, developing volleyball locally, provincially and nationally at all levels. He was the CEO for the Pacific Volleyball Society, founders of the Volleyball Canada Center of Excellence. Shane served on the VBC Regional Development Committee for many years, was instrumental in the installation of the first beach courts at Kits Beach and more recently, the beach courts built at Semiahmoo Secondary. In 2019, Shane initiated the building of Seaside's first practice facility in Surrey, the Wave. In 2023 he was the recipient of the prestigous Sport BC Presidents' award for Volleyball. He is a former Senior Men’s club player in both BC (VVC) and Winnipeg (Bandits).
Shane is an author, mentor and retired business consultant. He spent many years with his Pursuit Mentorship Services company helping athletes find post-secondary varsity teams to play for after graduating high school. Along with managing Seaside Volleyball Club, Shane will be head coaching the 16U Girls Surf team this coming 2025 season.
